Welcome to the "Virtual Gallery"
Over the past two years, I have had countless requests for more images on the site. There were several technical reasons why I haven't done it until now, not least of which was that I had to by an oversize scanner to scan the images which don't fit on a 8-1/2" x 11" scanner (which is 90% of all labels.) Well, now I have the scanner The second issue, was the load time of images. The more images on a web page, the longer it takes to load on a visitor's computer. And when the Net is busy, it can take an eternity! As a general rule, I keep my html pages short and only one, two or three graphics. However, here in the gallery, pages will have lots of graphics I also plan to set up links from the Sample Room page listings to the images, rather than load them on the list pages themselves.
Where the images come from: The image Gallery pages will reflect labels from many places.Some are scans of imagesI have offered for sale on eBay. Many of these may no longer be available for sale, from myself or anyone else. But, at least the images are here to view. Many of these images have a scan-warning on them, which is a clear plastic marker I put on scans of rare labels from my stock. This helps deter piracy. The scans are also in very low resolution, and will pixilate long before anyone can open them in an image editing software to try to remove the warning. For more on this policy <click here>. Each of the Gallery pages will have a differing number of images on it, and therefore, take varying times to load. If these pages turn out to be popular enough, I may set-up thumbnail images, or some other form of image accessibility. For now, I will start with the eBay image bank. Please let me know what you like and dislike about the Gallery. I will listen to all your comments, and try to make the gallery more enjoyable for all my visitors.
